Gospel Messengers

The Atnip Family

The Gospel Messengers are the Jim & Marilene Atnip family, with their 10 children, but the family is changing faster than this site gets changes.

Benjamin, the oldest,  25,is engaged to a lovely young lady, Alyssa Richard, from Gillette, Wyoming.  They plan to be married May 1, 2010, and then to live in Cody, WY where Benjamin is a busy aviation corporate pilot , flight instructor, and works for an FBO.  Kimberly 23,was married April 18, 2009, to a wonderful man, Kevin Sorrell, from Edmond, Oklahoma, and they live in Oklahoma where Kevin works for a petroleum transport company and also is studying for his CPA license. Occasionally Kim & Kevin continue to help the family band (such as the times they come to Wyoming during an event, or if the Atnips are in Oklahoma prisons.)

For most events Joseph & Julie Ann (twins) 21, are the oldest children of the current band. Joe plays mandolin and Julie plays bass and yodels occasionally.  Karissa 18, plays fiddle, while Duane, age 16,is the Dobro guy and is found occasionally playing banjo. Kaylena 13, Luanna 10,  JaLynn 7,all like  fiddles, and sing often, and Luanna is also studying banjo. David Wesley ,age 3, feels included as he helps on vocals .

The entire goal is to point their fellow men to salvation through the blood of a precious Saviour,  Jesus Christ, and to encourage one another during life's journey. They believe this should be their goal during the week ,as they work in construction and other careers, and also can be done by playing Bluegrass Gospel music by invitation in various public events.

They also are the founders of the Gospel Messengers Music Festivals in Cody, Wyoming.  The festivals are a totally non-denominational arrangement of which various participants do Gospel entertainment (live played) in an old Fashioned, uplifting 2 hour evening, beginning at 6:00 or 6:30 PM. These are usually held at the  Holiday Inn (convention rooms)  in Cody. There is no charge for admission, and the public is always cordially invited. They request the public to call them to be placed on their free mailing list for these Gospel events.

Since the year 2000, they have taken singing tours across the United States and in previous years they included Canada.  In the recent 5 years these tours often center around prison services and prison crusades that the family can minister in, found in the states of WY, MT, SC, MO, OK, and AL.

The Country Gospel Music Association voted and awarded the family the Regional & then International "Bluegrass Artist  Of the Year 2003."

As the founders of a non-profit organization called Gospel Messengers, they play by free will offering as God provides. They can be scheduled by calling 307 587-4988.

Thought's Of The Month:

* " If life is a grind, use it to sharpen your character."

*" Life is like a mirror. We get the best results when we smile at it."

*" It is foolish to spend money you don't have, on things you don't need, to impress people you don't like."

*" It is thinking about the load that makes one tired."

*" When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on."

*" God gave us mouths which close and ears that open, which should tell us something."

*" More depends on the will power than the brain power."
